I had so much fun putting this playful look together. For the holidays it seems like oversized sweaters or cute plaid skirts can be the go-to but I wanted to create something a little sexier. This look is definitely for a cocktail hour or friend party and not the one you should wear to visit grandma and grandpa in.
So, the inspiration for this outfit was this super cool pair of pants. I love the bell flare and how the asymmetrical hems show off your shoes a bit. I actually rented this pair from Rent The Runway. However, I was able to link some similar style for you below. Like I said, these pants show off your shoes so a fun pair is key to creating a statement. I went for a snakeskin pair for a subtle dose of edge.
Next, I picked out this killer mixed-media top. It features both feathers and lace…talk about a statement! I also really liked the cropped, boxy silhouette to offer the slim line of the pants. Since it’s lace, make sure you wear a pretty black bra underneath or, for a more modest approach you could always layer with a tank top. As far as adding a coat, I would suggest a black faux-fur or a light pink wool could be nice!
Finally, I accessorized with my go-to, dainty pieces. Keeping the jewelry simple is really important for this outfit to work. If you wear something chunky it will clash with the statements already shown in the pants and blouse. The reason these statements work well together is because they are all black and don’t over power one another. For a handbag, I always think a pop of color is nice and really love the way this light pink adds a touch of innocence to a somewhat sexy cocktail outfit!
