I have always been passionate about having a skincare routine. Something about washing my face each morning and night is so relaxing to me and nothing feels better than fresh skin. My skin type is normal to oily which means I have always been susceptible to the occasional breakout. However, the past few months my face was refusing to clear up and I have been so self conscious about it. I’m 22 and now my skin decides to have acne?? I’ve been trying tons of products and finally found a routine that is working! I wanted to share my skincare routine because I am combining many different suggestions and brands so I don’t think you’ll find a similar regimen anywhere else!
The Skincare Routine
1. Clarifying Charcoal Soap
I have been using this soap for three weeks now and love the effect it has on oil. The charcoal in it sucks out the oil from your skin leaving you with smooth skin without that greasy coating. While it does drake out oil, it doesn’t make you dry which is so important! I use my hands and massage it into my skin for about 20 seconds before rinsing.
2.ELEMIS Dynamic Resurfacing Wash /Clarisonic
While getting a facial in August, the esthetician recommended I wash my face twice. Wow, my skin has never felt cleaner! I use the resurfacing wash because it is great for any scars or discoloration caused by acne. I also use the clarisonic for this to act as an exfoliant each night.
3. Witch Hazel Toner / ELEMIS Lavender Toner
Next, a toner helps to rest the ph balance of your skin. The witch hazel has been known to cure all ailments and the lavender helps to balance and soften the skin, leaving a fresh and clear complexion. I have been using the witch hazel each morning and the lavender toner each night so I reap the benefits of each.
4. Neutrogena Light Therapy Mask
I was skeptical of this but was becoming desperate and thought I would give it a chance! I use it every other night so my skin doesn’t become too dry and I have seen great results. It truly does help to shrink and minimize the appearance of acne. It looks funny but you don’t feel a thing!
5. Differin Gel
I use a thin layer of differin over my whole face. Differin contains retinoid adapalene which was recently released for over the counter use so, this is a prescription product that you can now purchase at an inexpensive price on Amazon.
6. ELEMIS Resurfacing Night Cream
This moisturizer is amazing. The price tag is hefty but you need very little so it lasts forever. My skin stays moisturized but it never feels oily from it.
7. It Cosmetics Confidence In An Eye Cream
Anyone else in the night-owl club? I get so much work done at night but this also means I get some not-so-pretty dark circles or bags under my eyes. Eye creams have become essential for me and I love how gentle this one is. I see results but it doesn’t burn at all like some other creams do.
8. GlamGlow Supermud
I swear by this mask!! I use it as a spot treatment and will leave it on all night while I sleep. It’s magical I promise.
9. Emergin-C Triple Threat Peel
This is a gentle peel that I use once a week. You just apply a thin layer to your skin for a few minutes and it rapidly removes dead skin cells, renews complexion, and improves tone and texture.
Hopefully my skincare routine offers some new insight and you, too, can find your perfect routine.
